Today I’ll be writing on the Survivors being "babied."
It would be interesting to note that in terms of "suffering" on the island our Castaways have had more than their fair share.
A couple of things that may have escaped your keen powers of observation. :)
Some viewers were wondering why the tribes had so much rice in their supply since it was seen that every meal they cooked an abundant amount.
Remember both tribes were only able to get their fire going after 5 days on the island.
In other words, in terms of their rationing is concerned they have technically 5 days worth of extra rice.
The question is since they are eating the way they have been what happens when their rice supply is depleted and the ration is not scheduled?
Very simple.
They go hungry.
Some viewers also commented that it seems for every minor medical case the Castaways are brought to the hospital.
In terms of the hospitalization, let's study the cases:
1. John and his low potassium.
Sounds like all he needed were bananas, eh? Wrong. John's muscle mass ratio was too high compared to his fat after several days on the island. A very RARE case in normal settings but Survivor is anything but normal.
If John had not made it to the hospital on time complete with the fast evacuation believe me much worse would have happened. His fingers were as stiff as boards.
I know I held them and tried to bend them. Nothing normal about that at all.
2. JC and the infection.
In Thailand there is a species of snake that in the dead of night can enter your campsite and bite you without you knowing since its saliva has an anesthetic.
It’s a venomous snake that if bitten and not treated may lead to tissue damage as well as affect the central nervous system.
When we told the locals about it they said no point in taking chances if it were or weren’t a snakebite.
If it was a bite he has to be given the anti-venom within 24 hours. That is a definite cause for alarm hence the quick evacuation as well.
3. Nina and her toe.
During the “Spooling Around” challenge, apparently Nina was inadvertently dragged as she was caught in between two bigger Jarakay players, resulting in her toe being stepped on.
She approached me and told me that she has something to say off cam. She showed me her toe and it definitely wasn’t in the right place.
I immediately sought medical assistance.
After being brought to the hospital the x-ray revealed not just a simple fracture but a broken toe bone.
If she weren’t given medical treatment, if the toe had not been set and she continued with the challenges then it definitely could have resulted in permanent and irreparable damage.
There was nothing minor about these health issues and medical concerns.
My hats off to the Medical team of Doc Zoe and Doc Sam as well as the Sandugo team for their presence of mind and invaluable skills to make sure the Castaways are always in good hands during medical emergencies.
In the future I will be writing about some scenes that the viewers don’t see to give you a better picture of what the Castaways had to endure each day on the island.
No babies here that’s for sure.:)
