Early in the morning, Marlon retrieved the treemail for the upcoming Immunity Challenge:
"Bahay kubo kahit munti
Ang pagsubok doon ay sari - sari
May mahirap, may madali
Pero sa hamong pinili,
Baka bumigay ang binti."
Later on, JC, Kiko, Nanay Zita and Rob returned to the Chalam camp.
Marlon noticed that they got to keep the t-shirt and trousers that were given to them before they left the island.
Despite the plans brewing among them, Marlon suddenly felt unsettled with the arrival of the group he considered as the "power four."
"Talagang takot na takot ako dahil nararamdaman ko naman kasi na talagang pagdating, ako na ang pupuntiryahin ni Kiko na iboboto nila eh."
Kaye noticed that the group had arrived but she said, "Wala akong pakialam. Tutulugan ko na lang."
Cris and Kaye just stayed in the hammock.
Charisse acted friendly and welcomed the four tribe members.
Clueless
Rob was clueless that Cris and Kaye were just pretending to sleep to avoid them, "Natutulog si Cris, natutulog si Kaye. Ang gising lang noong panahon na 'yun si Marlon, si Charisse at si Veronica. Ang sarap ng pag-welcome nila sa 'min pagbalik kasi gising sila. And in fact, malayo pa lang ako, gusto nang mag - fish ng mga happenings si Charisse."
Thinking that the group came from a spa spree, Marlon asked them, "Paamoy nga ng mga buhok."
Nanay Zita said her hair smelled of feminine wash.
"Amuyin mo kung amoy spa kami," Kiko told Charisse.
"Ah walang spa," Charisse said.
JC approached Cris and Kaye.
Meanwhile, Kiko was also unaware that Cris and Kaye were harboring some hurt feelings against them, "Okay naman 'yung atmosphere. Walang tension. Wala naman 'yung feeling na 'May nangyari kaya o wala?' Hindi nga namin sila tinanong 'Sinubukan ba kayo?' Wala naman."
Kiko told Charisse and Marlon that the Thai family they visited made sweet delicacies for a living.
"Wala ba kayong baon?" Marlon asked.
"Wala bro," Kiko answered.
But Nanay Zita approached Kaye and Cris and whispered to them, "Si Kiko, nasa kanya 'yung pasalubong ko sa inyo."
Kaye admitted she was touched by Nanay Zita's gesture, "Parang 'Wow.' Iba 'yung feeling, iba 'yung feeling. Nararamdaman ko pa rin 'yung pagiging pagka-Nanay niya."
Kiko showed Cris and Kaye the sketch of the village in his journal then he casually handed Cris his buff containing the sticky rice delicacy.
"Kaye and Cris kept true to their word. They kept true to their loyalty sa Naak. Alam naman namin na si Cris and Kaye, nasubukan na eh. Subok na namin si Cris and Kaye," Kiko said.
Kaye took a bite of the sticky rice that Nanay Zita gave her.
Afraid that the Jarakay tribe members might see her, Cris told Kaye, "Huwag ka kumain dito sa harap. Puwede naman mamaya 'yan eh."
"Kahon!"
Before the Immunity Challenge started, Paolo informed the Castaways that they were experiencing the hottest day in Koh Tarutao.
And this could make a seemingly easy challenge much difficult than it should be.
For the Bahay Kubo Perch Challenge, each Castaway needed to stand on one-inch footholds in their respective slots in the bahay kubo. They would be given 10 seconds to position themselves afterwhich they need to stand there for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, they would need to transfer to footholds measuring 3/4 of an inch. The Castaways would be given another 10 seconds to position themselves on it. After 20 more minutes, the Castaways would again transfer to the last 1/2- inch foothold. The Castaway who can stay on the footholds the longest without falling wins Immunity.
Paolo warned that the challenge would certainly need the Castaways to put mind over matter.
One minute and 40 seconds into the challenge, the Castaways were already sweating under the scorching heat of the sun.
After nine minutes, Marlon complained that his legs hurt.
"Masakit talaga 'yan. Tiis lang," Paolo said.
"Pare ano kayang itsura ng talampakan 'pag nag pasa no?" Marlon asked.
JC commented, "Pasa 'to. Hindi ka makakalakad nito."
After 11 minutes, Marlon was still complaining, "Ang sakit sa paa. Pare, baka lahat ng bigat ko pumunta doon sa baba eh."
"First time mo?" Cris asked Marlon.
Just then Paolo brought out a tempting treat that tested the Castaways' resolve.
"Oh my God! Dude! Man!" Charisse exclaimed.
"Malamig na softdrinks at isang platong chips para sa unang bibigay," Paolo announced.
"Ang brutal mo, Pao!" Marlon said.
"Pao, tama na!" Rob said.
"Mommy!" Charisse shouted. "Kahon!"
Everyone lasted the whole 20 minutes and transferred to the second foothold.
"The Devil and The Pig"
Suddenly, Rob stepped down and ran toward the plate of chips.
"Hi Charisse!" Rob said as he ate the chips.
"I tasted that yesterday na. I had my share. I'm good," Charisse said pretending not to want the food.
Rob continued shouting as if taunting the other Castaways still perched on the footholds.
Charisse couldn't help herself, "I'll have the next one."
"Ang tanong may next one ba?" Paolo asked.
Rob let out an almost devilish laugh.
"Davil!" Vern said.
"Damonyo!" Marlon shouted.
"That's so bad," Charisse said.
As Paolo brought out the next plate of food, Marlon and Charisse started shouting that they want to go down.
"Can I get it?" Charisse said.
" Akin na 'yan, Pao. Bababa na ko Pao!" Marlon shouted.
"Kung hindi mahalaga ang Immunity, baba mula sa kinatatayuan at kumain na," Paolo said.
After 30 minutes, Marlon stepped down and claimed his plate of pasta.
Marlon said confidently.
"Pero mas masarap 'yan kaysa matanggal ka?" Rob asked.
"Walang kakaba - kaba," Marlon said.
Cris whispered to himself, "Yari ka boy."
"Sinong mas demonyo sa 'tin ngayong dalawa pare?" Marlon asked Rob. "Mas demonyo ako sa 'yo."
"Siyempre, mukha mo pa lang, mukha ka nang demonyo," Rob snapped back.
Pleading for food
"Guys, next bribe, I'll get it," Charisse said.
"'Pag litsong baka na 'yan 'pag labas, talunan lahat 'yan pare," Marlon said.
After 40 minutes, Charisse was already struggling to remain standing on the last foothold.
"Cha, kaya pa?" Kiko shouted from his perch.
"Kaya pa," Charisse said but then she shouted, "Paolo, I'm hungry. Can you bring out the food."
"Sorry Charisse, mamaya pa lalabas kung mayroon mang lalabas. Kakakain lang ni Marlon," Paolo said.
"It hurts! So Bad!" Charisse complained. "I can't."
"Teka, nagmamadali na ko ah," Marlon said.
"Cha! Cha!" Cris called out.
"Yeah?" Charisse asked.
"Can you speak in Tagalog? Hindi ka naintindihan niyan (Marlon) eh," Cris said.
"Sa level na 'yan patagalan na lang kayong lahat, matira matibay," Paolo said.
Kiko asked JC, "Kaya?"
"Kaya pa, huwag lang akong madudulas," JC said.
"Sorry guys," Kiko said.
After 45 minutes, Kiko stepped down from his perch.
"Paolo, I want food. I'll wait for it," Charisse pleaded. "Promise, I'll try."
After a few minutes, Charisse still struggled, "Ayoko na."
After standing for 50 minutes in the challenge, Charisse finally gave up, "Ayoko na. Sorry."
"Relax ka muna diyan," Kiko told her.
Charisse cried as she slowly sat down on her heels.
Kiko approached her and helped her to get up, "Tignan mo tinalo mo pa ko, okay lang 'yan."
Charisse seemed disappointed at herself.
"50 minutes? You did well. Hindi biro 'yun," Kiko comforted her. "You reached the third level, that's what matters."
Still struggling
Meanwhile, JC struggled to stand still, "Huwag ka dudulas. Huwag ka dudulas. @#$%! Ang sakit!"
"Ang sakit na! Ang sakit na!" JC continued to complain.
To take their minds off the challenge, Cris joked, "Kaye, mukhang araw-araw gumagala ka ah. Kumapal na 'yang talampakan mo ah."
After 59 minutes and 30 seconds, JC slipped from his perch.
After 1 hour, Kaye, Cris, Vern and Nanay Zita were still standing strong on their perches.
After 1 hour, 26 minutes and 40 seconds, Nanay Zita finally asked, "Puwede na sumuko?"
"Kayo bahala kung gusto niyo na sumuko," Paolo said.
"Sakit na, parang may sugat," Nanay Zita said.
Suddenly, Paolo brought out a plate of fried chicken and a glass of cold softdrinks.
Marlon was asking Kaye to go down.
Nanay Zita said, "Kaye, bumaba ka na."
Kaye finally stepped down.
Only Cris and Vern were left on their perches.
"Ano Cris, mag-re-ready na ko ng bonfire, pare?" Marlon asked.
"It's up to you, man," Cris said.
"Baka mawalan tayo ng liwanag eh," Marlon said.
As if to distract Vern, Cris asked, "Vern sa tanang buhay mo, hindi ka pa na - in love?"
Vern just smiled.
"Ano ba, you don't ask me my question," Cris said.
Marlon shouted, "Bawal hindi sumagot 'pag may interview."
"Sagot naman Vern, " Rob chimed in.
"Eh sinong manliligaw nito, lahat matatakot," Cris said. "'Yung paa napupunta sa ulo eh."
Suddenly, Marlon asked Cris, "Immunity, kotse?"
"Hindi ko ipagpapalit karangalan ko para sa anak ko," Cris answered.
"Immunity lang yan," Kiko said.
"Hindi basta, may salita ako. Kaya ko," Cris said.
For the sake of his father
After 2 hours, neither Cris nor Vern were ready to give up.
But Cris was feeling the pain, "Aruruy!"
As night fell, Vern extended her hand across the wall to shake hands with Cris.
"Cris anong masasabi mo kay Vern?" Paolo asked.
"Wala akong masabi," Cris answered. "Hindi ko nga alam kung babae 'to o lalake."
From the bench, Rob commented, "Ngayon lang ako nakakita ng babaeng ganyan katibay."
"Uy, somebody's fallen," Marlon teased Rob.
Then Cris started to cry and whispered, "Tay, bibitiw ako. Huwag kayong magagalit. Nakikiusap ako."
But there was a tug of war in Cris' head, he said, "Itutuloy ko. Sige, itutuloy ko. Kaya ko, sige. Huwag kayong magagalit."
"Brod, puso. Brod," Rob shouted to Cris.
"Pare, nakikita ko si Erpat, dude," Cris said. "Honest to God, nagagalit siya dude. @#$@#$@%! Tay!"
The other tribe members tried to comfort Cris.
"Cris, ang galing mo," Charisse said.
"You can never please everyone," Kiko said.
"Wala kang kailangang patunayan sa ibang tao Cris," Kiko said.
As the tribe watched Cris struggle, Kiko told Charisse, "Ang hirap kasi kay Cris, hindi niya ma-realize na it's enough. Ang mahirap kasi kay Cris, patuloy niya gustong i - please 'yung tatay niya. Walang katapusan."
After 4 hours in the challenge, Cris said, "Sorry Tay."
Then he finally stepped down and kneeled on the sand.
Vern made a sign of the cross as she won Immunity.
After she stepped down, she went to Cris' side to comfort him followed by the other tribe members.
Vern bowed as she put on her hard - earned Immunity necklace.
