The next morning, Rob and JC looked forward to a filling breakfast in their hotel in Krabi, Thailand, as they anticipated a grueling Immunity Challenge when they return to the island.
"Kasi kailangan na kailangan namin 'yung breakfast for the next challenge na darating. Sobrang sarap noong breakfast. Alam ko pagdating sa Manila, ordinary breakfast lang 'yun e. Pero lahat ng puwede mong kainin, kakainin mo e kasi kailangan na kailangan mo 'yun. Lalo na ilang days na lang para may energy ka na tapusin 'yung game," JC said.
Meanwhile, back at the Chalam camp, Charisse was feeling lonely without her two allies.
"When I woke up, I just realized how much I missed JC and Rob. I knew naman that they were having fun, they were having their spa treatment, whatsoever. I just had to make the most of my time with Cris," Charisse said.
Compared to Rob and JC's delicious breakfast, Charisse and Cris' breakfast was no where near delicious as they shared their meal of rice and clams.
"It's just enough to survive for a few days so hindi na nagma-matter sa amin kung masarap o hindi 'yung kinakain namin basta may makain," Charisse said.
Mental shutdown
After their meal, Charisse retrieved the treemail.
"History repeats itself.
Love is sweeter the second time around.
Past is past.
Ang hindi marunong tumingin sa pinanggalingan
ay hindi makararating sa paroroonan."
Cris was surprised how short the treemail message was and asked Charisse to read it again and translate the English words.
But as Charisse began to translate the message, she could not remember the Filipino word for history.
"I was reading it to Cris tapos sabi niya parang 'Ano na? Ano na?' He wanted me to translate it. So I was starting na parang 'History repeats itself.' I was starting to translate it. Oh my God, na-mental block ako kung ano 'yung translation ng history," Charisse said. "Which is kasaysayan. Alam ko na by now. Pero promise noong time na 'yun, literal na parang nag - mental shutdown na naman 'yung utak ko. Feeling ko talaga, nabobobo na talaga ako sa islang ito."
The hardest challenges all rolled into one
"Day 37 at ang pinakamalaking Immunity Challenge na inyong paglalabanan. Ito ang pinakamalaking pagsubok mula noong unang araw ninyo. Sa challenge, iba't ibang bahagi ng mga nakaraang mga challenges ang pinagdugtong - dugtong para sa isang mega-challenge," Paolo said.
Paolo explained that the Castaways would need to go through seven challenge stations that would test their strength, courage and knowledge.
Then he made another surprising announcement: aside from Immunity, the winning Castaway can take home one of the biggest prizes in Survivor Philippines.
For the first challenge station, the Castaways would need to push the giant wooden balls (taken from Karambola Challenge in Episode 19) to their tribe mat. Then they would need to run to the spooling post to wrap the cloth around their bodies (Spooling Challenge in Episode 17).
When the cloth is fully wrapped around their bodies, they would need to roll on the sand to unravel the cloth until they reach the table for the third challenge station. This is where they would need to eat four exotic food: a lizard, a scorpion, chameleon, and millipede (Thai Roulette Feast Challenge in Episode 13).
After consuming all four foods, they would need to climb the elephant wall, jump over the cargo net and go down in the sandpit. (Immunity Challenge from Episode 52). Then they would need to dig in the sandpit to retrieve seven wooden blocks with the Thai symbols representing the seven days of the week (Thai Memoray Game in Episode 47).
The first one who gets the correct arrangement and raises his flag would win Immunity.
Left behind
At the beginning of the challenge, JC was the first one to reach his giant wooden ball followed by Cris, Rob and Charisse.
Cris was the first to roll the ball on to his mat followed by JC and Rob.
Charisse was left behind as she struggled to push her ball.
Cris and JC began the Spooling Challenge at the same time followed by Rob.
JC was the first to reach the end of the spool and he rolled down on the sand.
Rob followed shortly after while Charisse was still pushing her ball.
Rob and Cris were neck and neck as they unraveled their cloths.
At the exotic food station, Cris was the first to consume all four foods and quickly ran to the elephant wall. He was already on the cargo net when JC and Rob finished their exotic food.
Cris jumped in the sandpit first followed by JC.
Rob was still making his way through the cargo net while Charisse was still struggling with her ball.
Cris found his first two blocks when Charisse was finally able to start the spooling challenge.
JC found his first block while Rob still could not find a single block.
Charisse started eating the exotic food when JC found his second block.
As Charisse made her way through the elephant wall, JC and Cris had already found four blocks each.
Reliable ally
Rob already found one block when Charisse caught up with them at the sandpit.
"Yahoo! I did it! Start digging!" Charisse exclaimed.
Cris found his fifth block. When he got back to the sandpit, he pointed to Rob the area where he could find one of his blocks.
"If you like to trust me, go ahead do it. If you not, don't do that," Cris warned Rob.
"Chitae, magtuturo ka na rin lang, ituro mo nang maayos," Rob said.
"Sabi ko nga sa 'yo, if you like to trust me, do it. If you don't want to trust, don't do it," Cris said.
Cris found his sixth block while Charisse found her first block and Rob his second.
When Rob found his third block, Cris blurted out, "May tiwala ka na sa 'kin? May tiwala ka lang kay JC."
"May tiwala ako sa 'yo," Rob said.
Charisse found her second block and third block.
Rob found his third and fourth block one after the other.
After more than one hour of digging, Charisse had four blocks, Rob had five while Cris and JC were tied at six blocks each.
Later on, the three men opted to rest. Then Rob suddenly did push ups.
Minutes later, JC finally found his seventh block and quickly ran to the cheat table.
Charisse and Cris were still digging while Rob just stopped and watched JC arrange his blocks.
"Kalmadong - kalmado si Rob," Cris said.
"Dalawa pa ko," Rob said.
"Sandal sa poste," Cris said.
Cris was able to dig one of Rob's blocks and threw it toward him, "O! Para gumalaw ka!"
A crucial choice
When JC ran toward his pole to raise the flag, Cris and Charisse stopped digging.
"JC wins Immunity!" Paolo announced.
Paolo called JC to stand in front of the other Castaways and told him that he had to make a big decision, "Immunity necklace o ito?"
He then unveiled the sketch of a brand new car.
"Oh my God JC!" Charisse exclaimed. "Oh my God! You are so lucky, man!"
Then Paolo announced that there's a twist, "'Yung hindi mo pipiliin na bagay, ibibigay mo sa isa sa mga katribo mo."
JC chose the car and smashed the white elephant to get the car keys.
Then, JC gave the Immunity necklace to Rob.
According to Survivor history, most of the Castaways who win the car reward end up losing the game. It has happened so many times that it became known as the "Survivor Car Curse."
It remains to be seen whether it will come true in Survivor Philippines.
As the Castaways walked back to camp, Cris walked far apart from JC, Rob and Charisse.
Each one of them was headed to their inevitable fate.
